Invisalign® Teen

Thanks to technological advancements and improved techniques, there are more orthodontic treatments than ever before. Even traditional braces these days are less obvious and more comfortable, and ceramic braces even more so. However, some people want a more discreet option or one that is compatible with their lifestyle.

If your teenager needs orthodontic treatment, Invisalign Teen may be the answer. At New England Orthodontic Specialists, we understand that there is a certain stigma associated with wearing braces as a teen. Invisalign Teen is an excellent alternative for teenagers worried about their appearance in braces.

Who qualifies for Invisalign Teen?

The Invisalign system can be used for many orthodontic cases. We will be able to determine if your teen is a suitable candidate for Invisalign during their initial consultation appointment.

Our doctors will perform a comprehensive examination and a thorough review of your specific situation and discuss all the options with you.

How does Invisalign work?

At your first visit we will use an intraoral camera and 3D technology to produce a digital impression of your teeth. Once we have an accurate representation of your mouth, we will send this information off to Invisalign along with the doctor’s prescription which is then used to customize the system for your specific needs.

At Invisalign manufacturing facility, they will use this information to fabricate a series of clear plastic aligner trays. Each tray is designed to apply gentle pressure onto the teeth, slowly moving them to the proper position. Throughout your treatment, your orthodontist is closely monitoring the movement of your teeth and making adjustments as needed to achieve a successful end result.

We understand that wearing an aligner close to full-time is a big responsibility for adults, let alone teenagers. That is why Invisalign Teen comes will a blue indicator that will fade over time with use. This allows us to ensure your teen stays on track during treatment!

Benefits of using Invisalign for teens

There are some benefits of Invisalign for Teens when compared to traditional braces. Perhaps the biggest benefit is your teen can eat the foods they always have. Many foods must be avoided when wearing braces but with Invisalign, you can still eat all the foods you love. The aligners are removed for meals and you don’t need to worry about breaking anything.

With Invisalign, teens no longer have to worry about embarrassing metal braces in their yearbook photo or on social media sites. The trays are made from a clear plastic that far less visible than braces. Most people will not be able to tell they are undergoing orthodontic treatment.

The Invisalign trays are often more comfortable and convenient than traditional braces. Because they are removable, brushing and flossing is a breeze. Traditional braces require special care to reduce the risk of tooth decay and gum disease during treatment.

If an aligner tray is damaged or lost, it is possible that your teen could simply move on to the next tray in their series. Unlike damaged braces, an immediate appointment is usually not necessary. Invisalign treatment requires fewer appointments throughout treatment than braces as well. Invisalign can be an ideal solution for those going away to school or for those who can only be seen at less frequent intervals.
